Neverness to Everness (NTE) Beginner FAQ: Read This Before You Start

Published: 2026/05/20

If you’ve just picked up Neverness to Everness (NTE), you’re bound to have plenty of questions. This article uses a Q&A format to round up the questions new players ask most.

Key answers: NTE is free-to-play, supports PC / iOS / Android / PS5, and offers English. You get the protagonist Esper Zero right at the start, and the launch event lets you hand-pick 1 S-rank character (Sakiri is the safest pick for beginners); the free S-rank Main DPS Chiz requires pushing “City Tycoon” to Lv 18 to obtain. Teams are 4 characters across 6 elements, and you boost damage via adjacent “elemental reactions.” The limited character banner has a hard pity at 90 pulls, cannot lose the 50/50, and your pity progress carries over between banners.

Is Neverness to Everness (NTE) free to play? +

Yes. NTE is free-to-play — both the download and the game itself are free. There is optional paid gacha and premium content in-game, but you can progress through the game normally and experience the full story without spending any money.

Which platforms can I play NTE on? +

NTE is available on four platforms: PC (Windows), iOS, Android, and PlayStation 5. For the official download method on each platform, see our download guide.

Does NTE support English? +

Yes. NTE has regional servers, and both the game interface and the story are available in English.

Which company developed NTE, and when did it launch? +

NTE is developed by Hotta Studio and published by Perfect World. It launched globally in open beta on April 29, 2026.

Which free characters do new players get at the start? +

The launch-period giveaways are quite generous: the protagonist Esper Zero is yours from the very start; the main story and events award the A-rank Main DPS Aurelia and the A-rank Healer Haniel. On top of that, the launch event grants a "free S-rank character selector," which is the true core of a new player's team — popular community picks are Jiuyuan, Sakiri, and Hathor (Sakiri is almost a no-brainer). The free S-rank Main DPS Chiz, however, must be unlocked by progressing the "City Tycoon" system to level 18, which usually only opens up once your Hunter level is close to 30 — so it is not a character you can grab right at the start.

How many characters can I put in one team in NTE? +

NTE uses 4-character teams. Team building revolves around the "Main DPS / Sub-DPS / Buffer / Healer" role split, and around lining up adjacent elements so characters trigger elemental reactions with one another.

How many elements does NTE have? +

The game has 6 elements in total. Triggering "elemental reactions" between characters of adjacent elements is the key to boosting your overall damage.

How are character rarities divided in NTE? +

Characters come in two rarities: S-rank and A-rank. S-rank is the highest rarity; A-rank characters are relatively easy to obtain and cheaper to invest in, and there are plenty of useful ones among them too.

What currency do I use to pull? +

The main pull currency is "Crystals," which you can earn through free channels such as quests, events, achievements, and redeem codes — an important resource for free-to-play players.

Can the limited character banner lose the 50/50? +

No. NTE's limited character banner does not use a 50/50 system — as long as you pull an S-rank on the limited banner, it is guaranteed to be the current featured character, and your pity count even carries over between different limited banners.

At most, how many pulls does it take to get an S-rank character? +

The character banner has a hard pity at pull 90, which always gives you the current S-rank; from pull 70 onward you enter soft pity and the S-rank rate increases significantly.

Do I need to reroll (reset my starting account)? +

Not really. With generous launch resources, free characters, and a pity system that cannot lose the 50/50, most players can simply start the game and play — it is more worthwhile to spend that time pushing your progress.

Where do I redeem codes? +

On the game's main menu, tap the "⋯" icon next to your player avatar to open the redeem code page and enter the code; rewards are sent to your in-game mailbox. For the latest valid redeem codes, see our codes page.

About how much time does NTE take per day? +

Dailies center on the daily active tasks, which usually take just over ten minutes to clear. You can spend the rest of your time freely exploring the open world or tackling events — there is no hard requirement for long play sessions.

Can players on different platforms play together? +

NTE is a multi-platform game, and you can generally use the same account to continue playing across PC, mobile, and PS5 (refer to the official notes for the actual cross-platform details).
